The
earliest chief blankets were striped with no other decorative touches.
Unlike other first phase blankets, Ute-style blankets like this
have no red in the design. This design is available as a cashmere
blanket.
The blanket is sized to approximate the original blanket's dimensions,
59 x 79 inches.
The 1800-1850 blanket
that inspired this design is in the collection of the University
Museum, University of Pennsylvania, and was illustrated in The
Navajo Weaving Tradition by Alice Kaufman and Christopher Selser.
Cashmere Blanket: $2,400
