Hearst Serape Cape

This magnificent Serape Cape is available in soft wool trimmed in buttery suede.  It has a keyhole opening in the front and measures 57 by 74 inches.

The circa 1840-60 serape that inspired this cape was owned by William Randolph Hearst, whose amazing collection of Navajo blankets is among the best in the world.

Hearst once accused Fred Harvey of keeping the best blankets for himself. Hearst told him to start sending his best right away.

Clearly, this was one of the best. The orginal blanket is now in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History.
